Police are continuing to highlight the dangers of drink driving after an incident earlier this month where a motorist came close to crashing on a major arterial road, Queensland Police say.
Officers from Sandgate Station were called to attend the Gateway Motorway at Nudgee on June 9 following reports of a woman driving dangerously.
Dashcam vision obtained from a member of the public (below) shows the vehicle allegedly swerving across the road, narrowly missing a tree and colliding a number of times with roadwork barriers.
Police managed to intercept the vehicle on Childs Road and confronted the 40-year-old female driver who allegedly appeared intoxicated and was disqualified from having a driver’s licence.
The Caboolture woman was transported to Pine Rivers Watch House where she returned a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of .297, almost six times the legal limit.
She was charged with high range drink driving and driving without a driver’s licence and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 30. The vehicle involved was also impounded by police.
With school holidays approaching police are reminding the public that drink driving is not only a criminal offence, but one of the major contributors of road deaths and injury crashes.
Motorists are urged to re-think getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol and make sure everyone arrives home safe from their journey.
