The Security Council meets at 3pm for a scheduled debate over the future of the so-called Comprehensive Plan of Action which was put in place in 2015 to prevent Iran from weaponizing its ambitious nuclear programme. But following 12 days of airstrikes traded between Tel Aviv and Tehran and the shaky US-brokered ceasefire which went into effect overnight, ambassadors will be confronting a far more high stakes inflection point - with the JCPOA due to expire in October.
