In what will be its 10,000th meeting, the Security Council will convene today to vote on a draft resolution concerning Israel's ongoing expansion of its military operations in Gaza.
Put forward by the Council's 10 elected members, the text demands an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in the Strip. It also recalls the organ's demand for the immediate, dignified and unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas and other groups.
Further, the draft demands that Israel immediately and unconditionally lift all restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
