Bayside Libraries recently partnered with Museums of History NSW (MHNSW) to help residents discover more about their family, home and local area through the NSW State Archives Collections.
Led by an archivist from Museums of History NSW's Access Services Team, the free sessions introduced participants to practical research tools and records that can uncover the stories of people, homes and neighbourhoods.
The family history session explored key archive records that can help researchers trace ancestors and build a richer picture of their family's past. The property history session guided participants through the records available to investigate the history of a house, street or neighbourhood.
Suitable for both new and experienced researchers, the sessions gave participants the confidence to begin exploring historical records and continue their own research.
The talks are part of Bayside Libraries' ongoing work to connect the community with local history, learning opportunities and trusted information.
