UNESCO Chief Denounces Murder of Palestinian Journalist Lafi

Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, has condemned the killing of journalist Ibrahim Mohammad Lafi in Palestine on 7 October 2023.

I condemn the killing of journalist Ibrahim Mohammad Lafi. Media workers provide verified news in times of conflict and must therefore be protected against all forms of attack. I call for the respect of the UN Security Council Resolution 2222/2015 on the protection of journalists, media professionals and associated personnel as civilians in situations of conflict, and for an independent investigation into this killing.
