UNESCO recommends Great Barrier reef be declared 'World Heritage in danger'

Greenpeace

The following comment can be attributed to Greenpeace Australia Pacific spokesperson Martin Zavan

"The UNESCO warning could not be any clearer, the Great Barrier Reef is in danger because of the Morrison Government's failure to act on climate change. [1]

"The Morrison Government needs to take its role as an environmental custodian seriously and cut emissions by 75 percent this decade to give the Reef a fighting chance.

The situation for the Reef could easily go from bad to disastrous as the ascendancy of Barnaby Joyce brings warnings that the Government could take an even worse position on climate change and increase its support for the fossil fuel industry, which is driving the climate crisis."
