ITN Business has produced This is Space, looking at the growth and capabilities of the UK space sector.

Professor Adam Amara, Director of the University of Portsmouth's Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation, has recently been appointed as the new Chair of the UK Space Agency's Science Programme Advisory Committee, which means he'll be working with the space science community to shape the UK space science strategy.

He said: "We're excited to announce our involvement in this news-style programme in partnership with ITN Business, UK Space and the New Scientist. Here at Portsmouth, we're working hard to strengthen the UK as a world-class space nation.

"This year we launched a new strategy 'Mission Space', which aims to bring together key players across the South of England and drive growth in the space sector and we're thrilled that This is Space showcases our ambitions."

The University has also joined forces with more than 120 academic institutions, private companies and public sector organisations in Hampshire and Surrey to create Space South Central, the country's biggest space cluster. Space South Central will capitalise on existing regional strength in space technologies to boost the UK space industry through investment in space technology, research, satellite applications and mission capabilities.
