University update on Dec. 25 downtown Nashville explosion

Chancellor Daniel Diermeier and Vice Chancellor for Administration Eric Kopstain shared a message with the university community this morning regarding the explosion in downtown Nashville:

Dear Vanderbilt Community,

As you've likely seen on the news, at approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning, an explosion occurred in the downtown Nashville area around the intersection of 2nd Ave. N and Commerce St. The Vanderbilt University campus has not been impacted as a result of this incident, although we continue to monitor the situation closely and are checking on faculty, staff and students, including off-campus students. So far this morning, we have no reports of anyone from the Vanderbilt community being affected, but if you have been impacted by the explosion, please contact Vanderbilt University Public Safety at 615-322-2745 as soon as possible. We are in contact with local authorities and we will update the Vanderbilt community as needed.
