Unlawful Entries and Aggravated Assault - Borroloola

Police are investigating three separate incidents which occurred in Borroloola overnight.

Around 11:00pm last night Borroloola police members discovered that the Borroloola Police Station had been unlawfully entered. A quantity of alcohol, which had been recently seized by police, and other items including an EPIRB were stolen. The majority of these items have since been recovered by police, Northern Territory Police say.

Around the same time police were made aware of an earlier unlawful entry, at a licenced premises in the region, where a further quantity of alcohol was stolen.

In addition to the two unlawful entries Borroloola Police are also investigating an aggravated assault.

The assault was reported to police around 12:20am this morning. Initial reports suggest the victim sustained serious head injuries. The victim was transported to Borroloola Clinic in the first instance, and was later airlifted to Darwin for further medical treatment.

Additional police resources have travelled to Borroloola, including detectives and crime scene officers, to assist with investigations into these matters.
