Unlawful use of a motor vehicle charges, Helensvale

Five youths have been charged following a series of traffic incidents this afternoon across the Gold Coast.

At about 1:30pm police will allege two stolen cars described as a white Mercedes Benz and a red Toyota Corolla were travelling eastbound along Helensvale Road.

At about 2pm, Polair whilst tracking observed the driver of the Mercedes Benz dump the car on Flybridge Way before entering the red Toyota Corolla.

Police will allege that during this incident a 17-year-old girl was taken into custody.

At about 3:15pm the stolen car travelled through a Biggera Waters shopping centre during which Polair observed two girls leaving the car on foot. They were taken into custody a short time later.

The red Toyota Corolla was then tracked to a Broadbeach shopping centre where the driver allegedly drove towards the front of an unmarked police vehicle.

The car also collided with a parked bus. Thankfully no one was injured in the incident.

Polair continued to assist police on the ground tracking the car to an underground shopping centre carpark in Coolangatta.

Two boys left the car and were arrested a short time later.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with three counts of enter premises, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of enter dwelling with intent at night and burglary and commit indictable offence.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Three girls aged 17-year-old ,13-year-old and 12-years-old have been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

All five youths will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
