Unlawful use of motor vehicle arrests at Mount Isa

Police have arrested six youths after an allegedly stolen vehicle was driven dangerously in Mount Isa yesterday, July 13.

Initial investigations indicate that the white Mitsubishi Pajero was allegedly being driven dangerously around Mount Isa, including around four education facilities.

The vehicle gained entry to three of those facilities' grounds by driving through the gates.

Police will allege the vehicle was also involved in at least five traffic crashes at different locations, after it was stolen from an address on the Barkly Highway at Mount Isa around 11.45pm on July 12.

By 9.45am on July 13 police located six juveniles allegedly fleeing along Samsa Street and they were taken into custody.

An 11-year-old boy has been charged with 16 offences, including nine counts of wilful damage and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is due to be appear before the Mount Isa Children's Court at a later date.

A 12-year-old boy was charged with 17 offences including 11 counts of wilful damage and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is due to be appear before the Mount Isa Children's Court at a later date.

A 12-year-old boy was charged with 18 offences, including 11 counts of wilful damage and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is due to be appear before the Mount Isa Children's Court at a later date.

A 10-year-old girl, 12-year-old girl and 14-year-old girl are being dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

Police investigations are ongoing.
