Mitchell Shire Council and the Department of Transport and Planning will carry out essential road works in Seymour and Wallan in June to improve road surfaces and safety at several key locations.
Some projects will overlap, and detours will be in place to help keep traffic moving.
High Street, Seymour
Council will be resurfacing the High Street and Wallis Street roundabout overnight (6pm to 6am) on Thursday 19 June and Sunday 22 June. Detours will be in place via the Goulburn Valley Highway and Redbank Road.
On Thursday 19 and Friday 20 June, day works will also take place on High Street between Crawford Street and the Wallis Street roundabout. Traffic management will be in place and delays are expected. Drivers are encouraged to detour via the Goulburn Valley Highway and Redbank Road.
Anzac Avenue, Seymour
The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) will also be resurfacing the Anzac Avenue underpass on Sunday 22 June, with works taking place between 6pm and 6am. This will involve a partial closure of Anzac Avenue.
Traffic will still be able to leave the Station Street roundabout and head toward Yea, but vehicles travelling from the south/east side of Seymour will need to detour via the High Street level crossing and Redbank Road. Tall vehicles will be directed to use the Goulburn Valley Highway and Redbank Road.
Northern Highway and Queen Street in Wallan
DTP will also carry out patching works at the intersection of the Northern Highway and Queen Street in Wallan.
Works will take place overnight on Monday 23 June and Tuesday 24 June, between 6pm and 6am.
To allow the works to be delivered safely and efficiently Queen Street will be closed on both sides of the intersection during different stages of the works
A signed detour will be in place for vehicles travelling east and west on Queen Street, with a detour time of approximately 5 minutes.
All works are weather dependent and subject to change. Council thanks the community for their patience and cooperation while these important upgrades are completed.
