The much-loved Upcycle Village Fair is back on Saturday, 14 November, and this year it's bigger than ever, becoming part of Australia's largest second-hand treasure hunt, the Garage Sale Trail.
Hosted by Rockhampton Regional Council at the Lakes Creek Road Waste Management Facility, community members will have the opportunity to become part of the action by setting up their own stall and selling pre-loved goods.
Waste and Recycling Councillor Shane Latcham said expressions of interest are now open for stallholders who want to turn their unwanted treasures into someone else's find.
"If you've got a garage full of treasures that are no longer getting the love they deserve, this is the perfect opportunity to give them a new home while making a few dollars along the way," Cr Latcham said.
"From clothing, books, kitchenware, furniture, gardening tools, sporting gear, camping equipment or collectables, there's no shortage of pre‑loved items that could become someone else's next bargain.
"Whether you want to set up a simple car boot stall, roll out the pull-out awning or bring along a 3x3 marquee, there's a place for everyone at the Upcycle Village Fair.
"We only have around 25 stallholder spots available, so I encourage anyone interested to get in quick and secure their spot."
The Upcycle Village Fair is a free community event that celebrates the simple idea of giving unwanted items a second life, rather than sending them to landfill.
"After last being held in 2023, we're excited to bring the fair back and it's already shaping up to be a fun day out for the whole family," Cr Latcham said.
"There will be plenty to see and do, with free activities and entertainment including food, upcycling demonstrations, an auction, market stalls, tours and a truck display.
"Kids can get their face painted before jumping on the bus for a guided tour of the waste facility, and families can support local community groups by grabbing a sizzling sausage before bidding on a one‑of‑a‑kind item at the auction.
"The Reviva Ibis Reuse Shop will be open as usual, and the Tinkerage will have its repurposed items for sale, along with free workshops and demonstrations including Christmas baubles, fairy gardens and pallet Christmas trees.
"And for stallholders who sell out early, there'll be plenty of time to explore the fair themselves - they might even find a pre‑loved gem to take home!"
