Cyclone Fina was a significant event, and its impacts are wide-ranging. The department is continuing to prioritise the safety of our staff and students when decisions to re-open schools are made.
Schools that do not have power or where there is significant damage, will not open until these issues are rectified. Repairs to these schools are being prioritised with an aim to have these schools back online as soon as possible.
Of the 153 government schools in the Northern Territory, 66 government schools were impacted by Cyclone Fina. Of these, 57 government schools are open today, 9 schools remain closed today as they are still undergoing electrical, water supply or structural repairs due to damage sustained during Cyclone Fina. Tomorrow Tuesday 25 November 2025, it is likely that 3 schools will remain closed.
