Detectives from Logan Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a third man with murder in relation to the death of a 52-year-old man earlier this year.
Around 6.30pm on January 5, the 52-year-old man was allegedly assaulted near Rudyard Street at Inala.
He later presented to Logan Hospital with significant head injuries around 12.30am on January 6, before being transferred to a specialist care facility, where he died on January 7.
Following an extensive and complex investigation, police today charged a 26-year-old Cleveland man with murder.
The man has also been charged with 17 serious offences, two counts each of armed robbery, kidnapping, torture, deprivation of liberty and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. And one count each of grievous bodily harm, receiving tainted property, burglary, assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault and trafficking dangerous drugs.
Detective Acting Inspector Daniel Cunningham said today's arrest follows months of detailed forensic examination, intelligence gathering and coordinated efforts by specialist units.
"This investigation has been long-running and complex, involving multiple scenes, offenders and serious allegations," Detective Acting Inspector Cunningham said.
"We will allege this group was known to each other, and their actions resulted in the tragic death of a man who sustained catastrophic injuries.
"This murder charge demonstrates our ongoing commitment to holding those responsible to account and providing some further justice to the family.
"We are incredibly grateful to the public and partner agencies for their support throughout this investigation."
The man is expected to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, May 26.
Two other men - a 31-year-old Birkdale man and a 32-year-old Griffin man - were previously arrested and charged with murder, grievous bodily harm, armed robbery, kidnapping and torture in relation to the same investigation.
Investigations are continuing.
