Warning: This media release contains images that are confronting, disturbing and distressing.
Two men have been arrested and charged with murder following an alleged incident at Inala resulting in the death of a man earlier this year.
Around 6.30pm on January 5, the 52-year-old man was allegedly assaulted near Rudyard Street at Inala.
He later presented to Logan Hospital with significant head injuries around 12.30am on January 6, before being transferred to a specialist care facility, where he died on January 7.
The two men, aged 26 and 29, were taken into custody by detectives, with the assistance of specialist officers, in Upper Mount Gravatt and Chermside today following an extensive and complex seven-month long investigation.
The pair have been charged with murder, kidnapping, torture and grievous bodily harm and are expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court Monday, 4 August.
The two men arrested earlier today are in addition to three men previously charged over the alleged incident.
A further man was charged in March with kidnapping, torture and other offences now before court.
Of the five now charged, investigators don't believe there to be any outstanding offenders directly involved with the kidnapping, however, have released images as part of their ongoing inquiries into the matter.
Detective Inspector Chris Knight said the additional arrests highlight months of exhaustive forensic examination, intelligence gathering and coordinated efforts by specialist units.
"This investigation has been long-running and complex, involving multiple scenes, offenders and serious allegations," Detective Inspector Knight said.
"We will allege this group was known to each other, and their actions resulted in the tragic death of a man who sustained catastrophic injuries.
"These charges demonstrate our ongoing combined commitment to holding those responsible to account and providing some further justice to the family.
"We hope these images, not previously released, assist those who may not yet have come forward yet with important information.
"We thank the public and partner agencies for their support throughout this investigation."
Investigations are continuing.
