Update 6pm: Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund

It is heart-warming to see the influx of donations coming through for the official Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund for the Wooroloo and Hills Bushfire 2021 Appeal.

We have been overwhelmed with support from the Western Australian community and would like to extend our thanks to hundreds of generous donors from around the state who have contributed to the current tally of $3,906,787.84 as of 6pm February 4.

We'd like to also formally acknowledge and thank one anonymous donor who has come forward and donated $25,000 this morning.

Corporate Australia has also mobilised and offers of financial support have begun to come in.

With an increase of damage to properties in the hills today, now is the time for Western Australians to dig deep and donate.

It is important to note that 100 per cent of donations raised through this appeal goes directly to those in need.

The Fund will work with the affected local governments to ensure money is disbursed to victims of the bushfire as quickly as possible and ensure that those that need help, receive help in a quick and timely manner.

While we can't replace what people have lost, we can help ease the financial burden for those who have been affected.

Can I also stress that the Department of Communities and the Australian Red Cross are not actively seeking any physical donations at the moment and are continuing to encourage financial donations through the LMDRF.

Thank you,

LMDRF Board Director and City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas
