Police have located the owner of property that was found abandoned in Darwin River last month, Northern Territory Police say.
Concerns were initially held for the welfare of the owner, whose bicycle and camping gear was found leaning against a tree near Old Bynoe Road. A concerned member of the public contacted police to report the unusual find.
The owner, an Italian national, was eventually in touch with Northern Territory Police earlier this month, advising he had decided to abandon his attempt to cycle from Darwin to Katherine and travelled back to Darwin on a bus without his property.
Police would like to thank the public for their concern over this matter and encourage anyone to continue reporting anything they see that may be suspicious.
