UPDATE: Charges laid after incident in Auckland on Sunday

As stated by Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Salton, Auckland City CIB:

Charges have been laid in connection with a young man's death after an incident in central Auckland early on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Customs Street East and Commerce Street, involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

The pedestrian sustained critical injuries at the time and was taken to Auckland City Hospital, but he sadly died as a result of those injuries on Wednesday.

Police can confirm that he was 18-year-old Connor Boyd, of east Auckland. Our thoughts continue to be with Connor's family at this extremely difficult time.

Two 18-year-olds, a man and woman, have been charged with manslaughter in connection with Connor's death.

The woman has also been charged with three counts of assault. Both were due to appear in the Auckland District Court today, 29 April.

While Police have laid charges over this matter, we would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or the lead up to it.

Police would particularly appeal to anyone in the area with video or dashcam footage to come forward. Those people are asked to contact Police on 105 quoting the file number 220424/0296.
