UPDATE: Two charged as investigations continue following discovery of man's body, NSW

Two men will face court today as police continue to investigate the discovery of a man's body in Surry Hills last week.

Shortly after 10:30am on Wednesday 2 January 2019, police were called to a unit in Clisdell Street after concerns were raised about the welfare of the occupant.

Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command attended and discovered the body of a 52-year-old man in the premises.

The officers established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, detectives from Surry Hills Police Area Command arrested a 42-year-old man at a unit on Morehead Street, Redfern about 9.35am and a 34-year-old man was arrested at a unit on Belvoir Street, Surry Hills just before 8pm yesterday (Tuesday 8 January 2019).

They were taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with aggravated robbery and deprive person of liberty, and aggravated break, enter & commit serious indictable offence-deprive liberty.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Wednesday 9 January 2019).

As inquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the man's death, anyone with information is urged to contact police immediately.
