Update: Woman charged over Kilburn murder, South Australia

Major Crime Investigation Branch Detectives have arrested and charged a woman following the fatal stabbing of a woman at Kilburn yesterday.

Just after 5.10pm on Friday 7 December, police and ambulance crews were called to a home on Goodman Avenue following reports a person had been stabbed.

On arrival they located a woman with multiple injuries. Ambulance crews treated the 61-year-old Kilburn woman for some time, but unfortunately she died at the scene.

About 11pm Friday 7 December Detectives from Major Crime Investigation Branch arrested an 18-year-old Kilburn woman at her home and charged her with murder.

Acting Detective Superintendent Billy Thompson from the Major Crime Investigation Section said, "The investigation remains ongoing, we are currently searching the Kilburn area with assistance of SES volunteers for a bladed weapon believed to be a knife used in the incident.

"We also ask if anyone was in the Goodman Avenue Kilburn area yesterday (Friday 6 December) between 3pm and 5pm and has any CCTV or dash-cam vision to please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report on line at www.crimestopperssa.com.au

"Police would also like to thank members of the Kilburn community for their assistance in the matter, Acting Detective Supt Thompson said."

The woman has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday 10 December.
