Updated Arrivals Associated Direction 17 December, South Australia

The Emergency Management (Arrivals Associated No 8) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Arrivals Associated No 9) (COVID-19) Direction 2021. This Direction came into effect at 4.14pm on 17 December 2021.

Key changes include:

Previously, for fully vaccinated International* arrivals, the 7 day quarantine period started when they arrived in South Australia, irrespective if they had completed any quarantine period in another state.

Now, if a fully vaccinated person spends time in another state, before travelling to South Australia they have to quarantine for a total of 7 days. For example if a fully vaccinated person arrives in NSW from overseas on 10 January 2022, their 7 day quarantine period in South Australia ends on 17 January 2022, regardless of when they arrive in South Australia.

Other entry requirements remain and are fully listed here: https://www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/travel/entrycheck-sa

Employees who work at High Risk Settings and arrive in South Australia from a Moderate Risk LGA are able to enter a High Risk Setting provided they:

  • Are fully vaccinated
  • Have had a booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine if eligible
  • Receive a negative result from the PCR test taken on arrival in SA

For a list of High Risk Settings, see here: https://www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/restrictions-and-responsibilities/activities-and-gatherings/current-activity-restrictions#highrisk

*International arrival means a (fully vaccinated) person arriving in South Australia who has been in a location outside of Australia during the period of 7 days before that arrival.

Other existing requirements remain.
