Updated Cross Border Travel Associated Direction 18 August, South Australia

The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel - Associated Direction No 41) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel - Associated Direction No 42) (COVID-19) Direction 2021. This Direction came into effect at 3.22pm on Wednesday 18 August 2021.

Key changes include:

Effective as of 3.22pm on Wednesday 18 August 2021:

Travellers coming from New Zealand or the Cook Islands will no longer have unrestricted travel in South Australia. They will be subject to the Level 5 requirements, which align with the requirements undertaken by all other overseas arrivals.

These requirements include:

  • COVID-19 test on day 1, 5, and 13.
  • Quarantine as directed determined by an authorised officer for 14 days (the day of arrival is not counted in determining the 14 day period, i.e. day one is the day after arrival). For international travellers this quarantine is conducted in a medi-hotel.
  • Must wear a face mask (covering mouth and nose) at any time that they come into contact with the public for a period of 14 days after their arrival in South Australia.

Travellers must complete a Cross Border Travel Registration prior to travel.

Further modifications have been made to Remote or Isolated workers who travel to restricted zones.
