Updated Residential Aged Care Facilities Direction, South Australia

The Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facility Direction No 42) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facility No 43) (COVID-19) Direction 2021. This Direction came into effect at 12.31pm on 24 November 2021.

Key changes include:

Residential Aged Care Facility Direction has been updated to bring it in line with the new Arrivals Direction, which came into effect midnight.

High Risk and International travellers are NOT permitted to enter Residential Aged Care Facilities for a period of 14 days after their arrival in South Australia.

End-of-life visits by people who are unvaccinated and who are not able to access the COVID-19 vaccine before their visit must:

  • Take all reasonable steps to access the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as practicable after their initial visit; and
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment while on the premises.

Other existing requirements remain.
