Updated Residential Aged Care Facilities Direction 16 February, South Australia

The Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facilities No 46) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facilities No 47) (COVID-19) Direction 2022. This Direction came into effect at 12.51pm on 15 February 2022.

Key changes include:

An employee, contractor, student or volunteer of a residential aged care facility who is a close contact of a COVID-19 case may enter the facility under the following conditions:

  • The facility has an established protocol for managing the Exposure Sites, Contacts and Diagnosis Direction; and
  • They are a close contact of a COVID-19 case whose last exposure date was within the 14 days immediately preceding entry; and
  • 7 days have elapsed since the person's last exposure date; and
  • They wear appropriate PPE at all times while at the facility; and
  • They undertake a Rapid Antigen Test on each day prior to attending the facility.

Other existing requirements remain.
