Updates to COVID-19 Directions for 13 February 2021, South Australia

COVID-19 Directions have been updated in South Australia. Updates have been made to the Cross Border Travel, Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victorian Arrivals and Residential Aged Care Directions. These updates provide restrictions for people travelling from Western Australia and New South Wales.

Cross Border Travel Direction No 37 and Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victorian Arrivals No 3

The Cross Border No 37 Direction comes into effect at 12.01am on Saturday 13 February 2021.

The changes are as follow:

Entry from New South Wales and Western Australia.

  • People wishing to enter South Australia from New South Wales and/or Western Australia are permitted to do so without any quarantine or COVID-19 testing requirements.
  • People travelling via an airport are still required to wear a mask while on the flight and in the airport.
  • People who are currently receiving COVID-19 testing having travelled from a previous New South Wales and/or a Western Australia Restricted Location must continue with the COVID-19 testing schedule until receiving a COVID-19 test on day 12.

The Quarantine and Testing of Certain Former Victoria Arrivals No 3 Direction comes into effect at 7.57pm on Friday 12 February 2021. The below requirements for Victorian arrivals are a combination of the Cross Border and Quarantine and Testing Directions.

Entry from Victoria

  • People are not permitted to travel from Victoria to South Australia.
  • Transiting Through Melbourne Airport- Transiting through Melbourne is not permitted.
  • Terminal 4 Travellers- People who are currently in South Australia having been in the Terminal 4 of the Tullamarine airport on or between 12.01am 9 and 12 February 2021 must immediately self-quarantine at a suitable place for 14 days commencing the date of arrival, receive a COVID-19 test on days 1, 5 and 12 and wear a mask when they have contact with members of the public. Household members of a Terminal 4 arrival must self-quarantine and until the traveller receives a COVID-19 test The household member is not required to test themselves.
  • Tullamarine Airport Travellers- People who entered the Tullamarine Airport (other than Terminal 4) on or since 7 February 2021 must immediately receive a COVID-19 test and wear a mask when they contact with the public and quarantine until they receive a negative test result. Household members of those who have entered the airport must quarantine until the traveller receives a negative test result. Once a negative test result is received all parties are free to move around. The traveller must continue to have tests on day 5 and 12.
  • Essential Travellers- Exemptions still apply for Essential Travellers please refer to the Essential Traveller schedules in the Directions or Essential Traveller table for more information. Note- Any Essential Travellers who have been in Terminal 4 of Tullamarine airport on or after 12.01am 7 February must quarantine for 14 days when they are not performing their duties.
  • Cross Border Community Members- Cross Border Community Members have been reinstated between Victoria and South Australia. Victorians living within 70km of the Victoria/South Australia border are restricted to enter South Australia unless they are permitted to leave their home for; shopping for necessary goods/services (one person per household per day), caregiving reasons, permitted education, essential cross-border employment or providing care/support. A person entering the 70km corridor from Victoria must not travel outside of this area. South Australian residents are not permitted enter Victoria outside of the corridor as a Cross Border Community Member if they do, they will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days
  • Exemptions- People relocating to South Australia, South Australia residents returning and people escaping Domestic Violence are permitted to enter rom Victoria however, they must self-quarantine for 14 days, receive COVID-19 tests on days 1, 5 and 12 and wear a mask when they have contact with the members of the public.
  • Transiting Through Victoria- People can transit through Victoria providing they have been in a Low Community Transmission Zone for the past 14 days, travel the most direct route, wear a mask when coming into contact with members of the public and only stop for emergencies or essentials including fuel and respite. (not permitted to transit through Tullamarine).
  • Melbourne Travellers Already in SA- People who entered South Australia and were provided with testing and quarantine instructions having been in Greater Melbourne, the Holiday Inn or Grand Hyatt hotels prior to the implementation of this direction must continue with the instructions previously provided to them.

Please note that the Quarantine and Testing of Certain WA Arrivals Direction and the Modification of Quarantine for Certain WA arrivals Direction have been revoked.

Residential Aged Care Facilities Direction No 30

The Residential Aged Care Facilities No 30 Direction comes into effect at 12.01am on Saturday 13 February 2021.

The only changes to the Residential Aged Care Facilities Direction are:

  • People travelling from New South Wales and Western Australia are permitted to enter an aged care facility provided they have not been in Victoria.
  • People travelling from Victoria are not permitted to enter a Residential Aged Care Facility.
  • A person who has entered SA and completed 14 days of quarantine is free to move around South Australia and also enter a Residential Aged Care Facility.
