Upgrade for Cowper Street Taree

MidCoast Council

A major road reconstruction project will begin in late November on Cowper Street Taree, delivering safety improvements and a smoother driving surface for motorists.

A 735 metre stretch of Cowper Street between Manning River Drive and Oxley Street will undergo a full width reconstruction including kerb and gutter replacement, expansion of the existing stormwater drainage network and drainage structures, stabilised road pavement, asphalt surface, concrete works and turfing.

Contractors will undertake both day and night works for MidCoast Council with a six month timeframe allocated for the completion of the works.

Works will be staged with one lane of traffic closed at various times. Alternate vehicle access via traffic control will be in place during single lane closures.

Work will be undertaken between 7am – 6pm on weekdays, with some additional night works scheduled to reduce the impact on daytime traffic and to shorten the overall project timeframe.

The contractor will provide 48 hours' notice of night works to residents and affected properties.

"We understand night-time works can create noise and inconvenience to those living in the vicinity of the work zone, and our contractors will work closely with locals to minimise disruption," said Council's Manager Projects and Engineering, Rhett Pattison.
