Upgrade works at the Hallam Recreation Reserve Hall are well underway, breathing new life into this historic community building.
The $1.7 million project, jointly funded by Council and the Victorian Government through the Growing Suburbs Fund, includes a new entrance at the front of the hall, new flooring, and an upgrade of the kitchen. Works also include demolition of the standalone toilet block and a new toilet area incorporated into the building, LED lighting to reduce operating costs and acoustic panelling.
The original hall, built in the 1930s, is one of the largest community halls in the City of Casey. It is used by a range of groups on a regular basis and is also booked for events.
While small improvements have been made to the hall over the years, a major refurbishment was required to meet current access standards and increased use of the facility.
Work is expected to be complete and the hall re-opened for community use in late April.
