Upgrading Smaller Playgrounds Near You 7 October

100826 Mayors message

One of my main priorities as Mayor has been to ensure local families can get out in the sunshine, get active and get healthy together.

That's why we continue to invest in fantastic recreational spaces right across our City. While major projects such as Brenan Park in Smithfield are creating exciting new destinations for residents, our neighbourhood playgrounds are just as important to ensure play opportunities are within a short walk or drive of every household.

In recent months, we have proudly opened new playgrounds at Fairfield Adventure Park, Fairfield: King Park, Wakeley and Chisholm Park, Canley Heights. I encourage you to get out with the kids and use these new playgrounds containing features such as slides, climbing frames, spinners, rockers and seating.

There have also been improvements beyond the playgrounds themselves with King Park's dog park extended and outdoor fitness equipment installed. The soccer field at Chisholm Park was extended too.

The good news continues, with upgraded playgrounds at Lalich Park, Bonnyrigg; McBurney Park, Cabramatta; and Hornet Park, Greenfield Park set to open in the coming months.

We are a large City with suburbs stretching from Villawood to Horsley Park and more than 150 playgrounds. Given the scale of our network of playgrounds across the City, we can't renew every playground at once.

We will continually upgrade and install new playgrounds across our City. If a playground in your area has not yet had works completed, it will be considered in future budgets.
