UPMC Recognized for Digital Innovation by CHIME's Most Wired Program

PITTSBURGH - UPMC has earned Level 10 recognition, the highest designation awarded through the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives' (CHIME) 2026 Digital Health Most Wired program, placing it among an elite group of health care organizations recognized for excellence in digital health transformation.

The distinction is awarded to organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership in leveraging technology to improve patient care, enhance the health care experience and advance organizational performance. CHIME describes Level 10 organizations as global exemplars in digital health innovation and transformation.

For UPMC, the recognition reflects years of strategic investment in technologies that strengthen care delivery, support clinicians, improve patient access and experiences, enhance cybersecurity and enable data-driven decision-making across one of the nation's largest integrated health systems.

"Level 10 recognition places UPMC among the world's leading digital health organizations and validates our strategy to integrate technology, data and clinical expertise to transform care," said Chris Carmody, chief information officer, UPMC. "From strengthening cybersecurity and advancing AI-enabled capabilities to creating more seamless experiences for patients and providers, we are focused on building a digital foundation that supports innovation at scale. This honor reflects the dedication of colleagues across UPMC who are helping shape the future of health care through responsible, patient-centered digital transformation."

The Digital Health Most Wired survey is an internationally recognized benchmarking program that evaluates health care organizations across critical areas including clinical quality and safety, analytics and data management, cybersecurity, patient engagement, infrastructure, population health and innovation. Organizations earning Level 10 recognition have demonstrated the highest levels of digital maturity, strategic technology adoption and measurable enterprise-wide impact.

The recognition highlights UPMC's ability to translate innovation into meaningful results for patients, providers and communities. "This achievement reflects the work of teams across UPMC who are committed to reimagining health care through innovation," Carmody said. "Technology is most valuable when it helps us deliver better outcomes, improve experiences and make care more connected for the people we serve."
