UQ complete study into QPS uniform

The University of Queensland has completed its study into the way the Queensland Police Service’s uniforms are perceived by the public.

This project was undertaken to analyse public perceptions of the QPS and relied on the participation of more than 1000 Queenslander’s who completed the survey.

The study contained some interesting results with the new dark blue uniform perceived as the most legitimate by the public while light blue shirts worn by officers were viewed as the most approachable.

The study concluded that the QPS should be mindful of uniform combinations and how they will be perceived by the public.

Previous studies have shown that police legitimacy is linked to public satisfaction and law abiding behaviour.

The QPS thanks the University of Queensland for conducting this study and thanks members of the public who took the time to participate in the survey.
