Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke with his Romanian counterpart, Minister of National Defence Angel Tîlvăr, to discuss the strength of the U.S.-Romania bilateral defense relationship, our partnership within NATO, and Russia's brutal war in Ukraine.
The two leaders reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to bolstering the defense of NATO's eastern flank as well as continued support for Ukraine to defend itself against Russian aggression.
Both leaders look forward to continued coordination through future bilateral and NATO engagements and the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
