Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke with Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar to reaffirm the strength of the U.S.-Qatar strategic relationship. Both leaders affirmed commitment to a strong bilateral defense partnership as a cornerstone of the strategic relationship. Secretary Austin thanked the Amir for Qatar's willingness to continue to host and support U.S. forces at Al-Udeid Air Base and reiterated the United States' steadfast commitment to security cooperation with Qatar.
