Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and his Canadian counterpart, Minister of National Defence Anita Anand, spoke by phone to discuss a range of bilateral and global issues including the current situation related to Russia's aggression towards Ukraine and future U.S.-Canada cooperation in the Arctic, and steps taken by both countries to implement NORAD modernization. In addition, Secretary Austin welcomed Canada's decision to select the F-35 platform as its next future fighter aircraft and underscored that choosing this platform would enable seamless cooperation among allies.
