On August 9th, Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III participated in United States Africa Command's (USAFRICOM) historically significant Change-of-Command ceremony. USMC General Michael E. Langley assumed command of USAFRICOM from Army General Stephen Townsend after General Langley was confirmed by the Senate. General Langley has made history as the first African American four-star general in the Marine Corps' 246-year history.
