U.S. President Biden Amends Puerto Rico Disaster Declaration

Yesterday, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. made additional disaster assistance available to the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico by authorizing an increase in the level of Federal funding for Public Assistance projects undertaken in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico as a result of earthquakes during the period of December 28, 2019, to July 3, 2020.

Under the President's major disaster declaration issued for the Commonwealth of Puerto on January 16, 2020, Federal funding was made available for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and Other Needs Assistance at 75 percent of the total eligible costs.

Under the President's order today, the Federal share for Public Assistance has been increased to 90 percent of the total eligible costs.
