On January 30, Administrator Samantha Power met with Major General Ghassan Alian, Head of Israel's Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT). The two discussed ways in which the U.S. and COGAT can continue to deepen our coordination to protect civilians and increase the flow of humanitarian assistance in Gaza.

Administrator Power emphasized the urgency of increasing and sustaining an uninterrupted flow of both humanitarian aid and commercial goods into Gaza. The Administrator also expressed her concern about the conflict's deadly impact on civilian populations, humanitarian aid workers, and civilian infrastructure throughout Gaza, and the need to do more to protect them.

The Administrator expressed her sympathies for the victims of Hamas' ruthless attack on October 7th and conveyed her hopes for the prompt and safe release of the remaining hostages in Gaza.
