USAID Chief Power Holds Talks with Guatemala's President-elect

On October 4, Administrator Samantha Power met with Guatemalan President-elect Bernardo Arévalo. Administrator Power congratulated President-Elect Arévalo on his election and underscored the U.S. government's strong commitment to supporting a peaceful democratic transition of power in Guatemala. Administrator Power and President-elect Arévalo discussed USAID's long standing partnership with the people of Guatemala. They also discussed shared priorities in Guatemala including creating economic opportunities; strengthening governance through greater accountability and transparency of public institutions; improving security, health, and education conditions for all Guatemalans; and expanding access to lawful pathways for migration to the United States.
