USAID's Power Discusses Matters with Gates Foundation CEO

Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with the CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Mr. Mark Suzman. The two spoke about global health initiatives, including USAID's efforts to strengthen primary healthcare, the shared goal of eliminating wild polio virus, and the compounding effect the climate crisis is having on food security in developing countries. They also highlighted the need to strengthen collaboration to tackle the global food security crisis.

Administrator Power recognized the important contributions the Gates Foundation has made toward polio eradication and recognized the ongoing collaboration through the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), an effort that has saved more than 25 million lives in the fight to end HIV/AIDS.
