USAID's Power Holds Meeting with Israeli Ambassador Herzog

On December 1, Administrator Samantha Power met with Israel's Ambassador to the United States Michael Herzog. Administrator Power and Ambassador Herzog discussed ongoing efforts to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza, the significant surge in life-saving humanitarian assistance achieved during the seven-day humanitarian pause between Israel and Hamas, and the U.S. commitment to supporting continued acceleration of assistance and the protection of civilians.

Administrator Power recognized Israel's critical efforts to secure the release of hostages and highlighted the continued determination of the U.S. to help bring home all those taken hostage by Hamas. Administrator Power and Ambassador Herzog discussed the end of the pause, including addressing potential impacts on the humanitarian effort in Gaza, and underscored the importance of continued coordination as part of the close partnership between the U.S. and Israel.
