At the request of the Tunisian Ministry of Trade and Export Development, ESCWA organized a training workshop on 11 and 12 February in Tunis on the use of the national version of the Global Economywide Trade Policy Simulator Interface (GETSI), with the aim of strengthening national capacities in evidence-based trade policymaking.
Technical staff from the Ministries of Trade, Finance, Planning, Industry, and Agriculture practiced ways to conduct ex-ante economic assessments of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the trade war, focusing on the impacts on the Tunisian economy.
The workshop also enabled participants to develop skills in building scenarios, executing simulations, interpreting results and enabling informed decision-making in trade policy formulation.
