Van set alight after crashing into parked cars

Moreland Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information after five cars were damaged by an out of control van in Coburg this morning.

Police have been told the white van crashed into at least five parked cars in Selbourne, Liverpool, Munro, Shaftsbury and Rose streets sometime between 12.15 and 12.40am.

The van was then found dumped and on fire by the Critical Incident Response Team at the intersection of Walhalla Street and Moreland Road in Pascoe Vale South.

It's believed the driver of the van was picked up by another person and got into a dark coloured sedan before driving away.

The van was extensively damaged.

Detectives are following up CCTV in the area and appealing for anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the crashes or driving behaviour of the vehicle to come forward.

No one was injured in the crashes which involved unoccupied parked cars.

Anyone who witnessed the incidents or who has information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
