Vehicle theft charges, Broadbeach

Four juveniles have been charged following an alleged vehicle theft which resulted in a crash at Broadbeach.

Just before 4pm yesterday, police were called to the corner of the Gold Coast Highway and Pacific Fair Drive after a crash involving two vehicles.

Initial investigations indicate a stolen 2017 white Mitsubishi ASX SUV went through a red light and collided with the side of a silver 2012 Toyota Camry and caused it to roll onto its side.

It will be alleged upon arrival four teenagers attempted to flee the scene on foot.

Three girls, all aged 13 were taken into custody and taken to the Southport Watchhouse.

There were no serious injuries as a result of the collision.

It is further alleged just after 8pm officers from the Gold Coast's Rapid Action Patrol group took a 12-year-old boy into custody at a Chairlift Avenue address in Mermaid Beach.

He was also conveyed to the Southport Watchhouse.

All four have been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and are expected to appear before the Southport Children's Court.

Anyone with further information about the incident is encouraged to call police.

The SUV was one of two vehicles allegedly stolen from a Solitaire Place home in Robina on Saturday night.

Investigations are continuing.
