Vehicles destroyed in wrecking-yard fire - Smeaton Grange

An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire in a car-wrecking yard in Sydney's south west overnight.

Emergency services were called to the business on Camden Valley Way at Smeaton Grange about 11.50pm (Wednesday 13 May 2020).

Officers from Fire and Rescue NSW worked for more than two hours to extinguish the blaze, which destroyed about 50 vehicles that were being held for scrap metal.

Fire was extinguished about 2.20am (Thursday 14 May 2020), and a crime scene was established by officers attached to Camden Police Area Command.

Investigators will wait until the site is declared safe before examining the scene.

The cause of the fire is still to be determined

Road diversions were in place for about two hours while the fire was being controlled.
