Vessel fire - Caringbah South

An investigation has commenced following a vessel fire in Sydney's south early this morning.

Just after 4am (Monday 15 February 2021), emergency services were called to a marina on Fernleigh Road, Caringbah South, after reports of a fire.

Fire & Rescue NSW attended, and found a vessel well alight. While attempting to extinguish the blaze, the vessel sunk, and attempts are being made to contain debris. The marina also sustained minor damage.

Two male occupants had reportedly evacuated prior and were treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation before being taken to St George Hospital as a precaution.

Officers from Sutherland Police Area Command attended, along with the Marine Area Command. A crime scene has been established at the marina as inquiries continue.
