Vibrant visual arts talent showcased at 2022 Dubbo arts Fair

Launched to massive crowds in 2021, an event showcasing the region's best in visual arts is shaping up to be another wonderful celebration of the vibrant creative sector in our local community.

Artists from the Dubbo Region will feature their work at the Dubbo Arts Fair from 23-25 September, hosted again by the Western Plains Cultural Centre (WPCC).

Dubbo Regional Council's (DRC) Cultural Development Coordinator Jess Moore said the art-packed weekend was a great opportunity for the community to view and purchase original artworks while supporting local talent.

"The Dubbo Arts Fair will also feature performances by local musicians, networking opportunities and great regional food and refreshments,'' Ms Moore said.

The WPCC will be opening its whole gallery space to individual artists to showcase their work to the public during the Arts Fair weekend from 10am to 4pm daily.

"Artists participating in the Arts Fair will be able to promote and sell their work, and with no stall fees all the sales go directly to the artists,'' Ms Moore said.

"The inaugural Dubbo Arts Fair held in August 2021 attracted many buyers who were looking for original creative works for their home or office that reflect our amazing region and community.''

Ms Moore encouraged visitors to the Fair to spend time with the local artists to hear and learn from them directly.

"The 2021 event took place just before lockdown across NSW due to the COVID-19 pandemic…it was the last bright light of positivity before we all went into moths of hardship,'' she said.

"The 2022 event will bring all these artists and the community back together – showcasing their survival, endurance and growth.

"Dubbo Regional Council knows that supporting and nurturing local creatives, artistic experiences and events has amazing social and cultural benefits for regional communities. Events such as the Dubbo Arts Fair shine a light on the remarkable, creative people in our community and give the public the chance to see this creativity up close.''
