Vic Metro made light work of South Australia in their Round 3 matchup yesterday morning, the Victorians taking an eight wicket win.
Two wickets each to Olivia Thomas and Maddi White helped keep the SACAs to 8-114 from their 20 overs, before an unbeaten half century from Metro skipper Tess Flintoff and 34 from Katia Jomini helped their side over the line in the 17th over.
Vic Country didn't fare quite as well in their match against ACT/NSW Country, going down by five wickets.
A fine knock of 46 not out from Molly Ward and 29 to Tahlia Meier pushed Country to 3-112 from its 20 overs. But the ACT/NSW side showed composure with the bat to run down the total inside 18 overs.
Metro completed its second win of the day against Northern Territory, with a low-scoring three wicket win.
Three wickets to Jessica Matin and two apiece to Ella Hayward and Olivia Henry kept NT to just 8-86.
Hayward backed up her performance with the ball with a top score of 22 for Metro and despite a mini collapse of 5-20 in the middle order Victoria reached the 87 required for victory with five overs to spare.
NSW Metro proved too good for Vic Country in the afternoon, winning by three wickets in a thrilling contest decided on the last ball of the match.
Contributions from Merinda Hale (27), Lucy Cripps (24) and Jaide Anthony (24*) helped Victoria to 7-128 after being sent in to bat.
A four wicket haul from Tiana Atkinson and two wickets to Anthony wasn't enough to get their side over the line, NSW Metro hitting the winning runs on the final ball to secure victory.
Vic Metro will face ACT/NSW Country in the first T20 semi final on Thursday morning, with the winner to go through to the T20 Final at Blundstone Arena. Vic Country will take on Tasmania and Western Australia to determine their rank for the one-day competition which gets underway later this week.
