Edward River Council is thrilled to announce Vicky Lowry, General Manager of Deni Play on the Plains Festival - the organisation behind the iconic Deni Ute Muster - as the 2026 Australia Day Ambassador. Known for steering one of Australia's most celebrated rural festivals to record-breaking success, Vicky brings her passion for community, connection and regional pride to this year's celebrations.

"I am deeply honoured to be selected as the 2026 Australia Day Ambassador for Edward River," Vicky said.

"It's a privilege to represent a community that I care so deeply about - one that has shaped me both personally and professionally - and to celebrate the people who make our region such a strong and connected place to live."

Under Vicky's leadership, the Deni Ute Muster has evolved into a family-friendly event attracting more than 20,000 attendees annually, while proudly maintaining its authentic ute culture heritage. Her commitment to community development and inclusive experiences has delivered significant social and economic benefits to the Edward River region.

Prior to her current role, Vicky worked for 17 years with the NSW Education Department in small rural schools in administration and as a consultant art teacher, while also serving as a director in her family business. These diverse experiences shaped her practical, community-minded leadership style and laid the groundwork for her transition into the major events industry.

Mayor Ashley Hall congratulated Vicky on her appointment: "Vicky is an outstanding choice as our 2026 Australia Day Ambassador. Her leadership of the Deni Ute Muster has not only showcased the unique spirit of our region but also strengthened community connections and boosted local tourism."

"Vicky is a strong advocate for mentorship and collaboration and an active promoter of Deniliquin - we are proud to have someone so dedicated to Edward River representing us on this important day."

Vicky will officiate at Council's Australia Day ceremony on Monday 26 January 2026 at the Deniliquin Town Hall, where the community will come together to celebrate and recognise local achievements.
