Victoria Metro, Country Squads Named for Under-19 Nationals

Cricket Victoria has confirmed the Victoria Metro and Victoria Country squads for the upcoming 2026/27 Under-19 Female National Championships, following an extensive pre-season program focused on developing the state's next generation of female cricketers.

Victorian-contracted players Ira Aery (Metro) and Indigo Noble (Country) headline this year's squads, bringing valuable experience from within Victoria's state program.

The squads also feature four players who gained valuable experience representing Victoria in September's Second XI series against South Australia, with Noura Abdul Qader, Eva Baird and Jasmine Kamboj selected for Metro, alongside Country's Charli McLennan.

This year's preparation has placed a greater emphasis on strength and conditioning, fielding and cricket IQ, with a series of targeted initiatives designed to accelerate player development both on and off the field.

Pathway Physical Performance Specialist Mitchell Craze has led an enhanced strength and conditioning program, with players making significant physical improvements over a relatively short period.

The program also benefited from the expertise of Scott Meager from Melbourne Aces Baseball, who worked with players to refine their throwing techniques and movement in the field.

Alongside their physical development, players have spent additional time in classroom-based sessions, strengthening their tactical understanding, decision-making and overall cricket IQ.

The squads were finalised following a competitive block of September practice matches at Endeavour Hills Cricket Club and a three-day multi-format series at Monivae College in Hamilton, providing players with valuable match experience and a strong platform to push for selection.

Cricket Victoria would also like to thank Stefan Lidstrom, Chaminda Perera and Xavier Crone for their contributions to the winter program, particularly in supporting the development of batting and pace bowling across the pathway.

The program continues to benefit from the important role played by Community and Premier Cricket clubs, whose ongoing support provides a strong foundation for the development of Victoria's emerging female talent.

With selection now finalised, attention turns to the National Championships, where both Victorian squads will look to translate their pre-season development into strong performances against increasingly competitive opposition.
