Victoria has announced its 13-player squad for Tuesday's Dean Jones Trophy match against Western Australia at the CitiPower Centre, kicking off an exciting week that also includes a four-day Sheffield Shield clash before the BBL break.
The squad is bolstered by the return of Campbell Kellaway, Oliver Peake and Peter Handscomb, who all featured in the Prime Minister's XI match against England. Kellaway and Peake continued their impressive early-season form, posting scores of 82 and 54 respectively, further showcasing Victoria's emerging batting depth.
Fast bowlers Cam McClure and Xavier Crone are also available for selection for the first time since representing the CA XI in Perth against England, adding valuable reinforcement to Victoria's bowling stocks.
With regular captain Will Sutherland rested, Matt Short will lead Victoria for the fourth time this season as the side prepares for an important block of cricket on home soil.
Victorian Men's Head Coach Chris Rogers said the group is energised for the challenge ahead.
"It's always a big occasion when Victoria plays Western Australia. There's a strong modern rivalry and both sides take great pride in the contest," said Rogers.
"For us, it's a huge week. We took some important lessons out of last week, and the group is hungry to apply them and finish strongly heading into the BBL break.
"The players are determined to put on a performance our home supporters can be proud of and keep playing the exciting, positive brand of cricket that people associate with this Victorian team."
Victoria faces Western Australia on Tuesday at the CitiPower Centre, with play beginning at 10:00am.
